Competition Divisions - Stay tuned for possible rules revisions... Bird: Waterfowl, seabirds & shorebirds, song birds, birds of prey & upland game birds, all other birds, miniatures, smoothies –antique and realistic, and interpretive bird sculptures
General: Human figures, caricatures- human & animal, animals, marine life, carousel figures, relief carving, chip carving, miniatures, and miscellaneous Working Decoys: Single class and category
Bench: Bird & general pieces produced in a class setting by “open” carvers
Non-Wood: Single class and category
Youth: Song birds & birds of prey, waterfowl & shorebirds, animals, marine life, working decoys, and miscellaneous
Special: Refrigerator Magnet - New this year!
Beginner: Bird and general, one time only and at no cost, to encourage new carvers to show their work
Competition Class Levels (Bird and General Divisions Only) Novice: Considered to be at the entry level of competition Intermediate: For the carver whose past performance establishes them at a level higher than novice Open: For the carver at the highest level of artistic skill and vision
All other divisions will be judged as a single class. Novice, intermediate, and open will not be designated.
Judging Criteria: Craftsmanship, Accuracy, Essence, and Artistry
Entry Fees for Competitors: Genesee Valley Woodcarvers members: $5 / first 3 entires, $1 for each entry thereafter Non-members: $15 surcharge plus $5 / entry Beginners: No charge, get-started rate, available one time only Youth: No charge
